The Ridge View girls track and field squad traveled to Cherokee and competed in the Tomahawk Relays on Tuesday. The Raptors captured first place in the class 2A division with 165 points, compared to second place Unity Christian with 131 points.
Ridge View’s sprint medley team of Taya Phillips, Kiara Dutler, Rowan Jensen, and Arissa Kretlow won fourth place with a time of 1:59.92. Jaycie Vohs set a new school record in the 3,000 meter run, capturing first place with a time of 11:31.77, while Addison Tesch took fourth place in a time of 12:53.11.
The Ridge View boys track and field squads took part in the MVAO-COU Invite in Mapleton on Thursday. The Raptors took fourth place in the eight-team field, scoring 98.5 team points. West Monona won the meet with 160 points.
The Ridge View girls golf squad won first place at a four-team meet in Kingsley on Tuesday. The Raptors fired a total team score of 208, just edging out Kingsley-Pierson with a 209. MVAO-COU shot a 211, and Westwood carded a 246. Emma Mentzer earned runner-up honors by firing a 51, followed closely by Natalie Madsen and Zoey Aschinger, who fired identical scores of 52. Right behind them was Beth Mentzer with a 53, while Callie Wendt shot a 59 and Addison Voge carded a 65.
The Ridge View boys track and field squad competed at the OABCIG Invite in Ida Grove on Tuesday. The Raptors won second place at the meet with 115 points, bettered only by host OABCIG with 129 points. Asher Endrulat took sixth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.76 seconds. Endrulat also won fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.95 seconds. Kinnick Jensen took sixth place in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.87. Carter Todd finished seventh in the 800-meter run, turning in a time of 2:32.20.
The Ridge View boys golf squad took part in a dual golf meet against Newell-Fonda in Newell on Tuesday. The Raptors won the meet with a score of 170, while the Mustangs shot a 172. Levi Albers of Ridge View tied for medalist honors by firing a 40. He was followed closely by Gavin Vohs and Robert Forristal, who both shot identical scores of 43. Right behind them was Kellen Clausen with a 44. Drew Burk fired a 46, while Aiden Deitering shot a 48.
The Ridge View girls golf team took part in a Western Valley Conference tournament at Sloan last Monday. The Raptors finished sixth in the nine-team field with a team score of 219. Kingsley-Pierson won the meet with a team score of 191. Ridge View was led by Zoey Aschinger, who fired a 51. Right behind her was Callie Wendt with a 54 and Emma Mentzer with a 55. Natalie Madsen shot a 59, followed closely by Claire Wandrey with a 61, and Kierstin Volkert with a 62.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad picked up another title, this time taking first place in the Raider Relays at Sac City. The Raptors scored 193 team points, compared to second place IKM-Manning with 112 points.
Taya Phillips took first place in the 100-meter dash with a winning time of 13.46 seconds. Gabi Mason won second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.07 seconds, while Phillips finished fourth in a time of 28.61 seconds. Madison Stowater captured second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.28.
The Ridge View girls track and field squad earned a first place finish at the annual Russ Kraai Relays in Holstein on Tuesday. The Raptors scored 172.5 team points, compared to second place Sioux Central with 139 points. Madison Stowater placed third in the high jump competition with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches. Shae Dutler captured first place in the long jump contest with a leap of 16 feet, 4 inches, while Gabi Mason took third place with a jump of 15 feet, 6 inches.
The Ridge View boys track and field squad competed at the Raider Relays in Sac City on Friday. The Raptors finished fifth in the 10-team field with 82 total points. Westwood won the meet with 132 team points.
Raptors golf coach Alex Warnke has a solid group of returning golfers. Warnke talked about his top returning performers from last season, and top prospects to fill lost players from last year’s team.
“We have returning letterwinners in Levi Albers, Cayden Clausen, Gabe Chance, and Gavin Vohs. Some of our top prospects include Jackson Struck, Kyle Burk, Kellen Clausen, Drew Burk, and Robert Forristal.”
Warnke shared what he considers to be the team's strengths.
