Ridge View girls golf coach Brian Bode has an energetic group of lady golfers looking forward to the upcoming season. The Raptors did lose Emma Vohs, a regional finals qualifier to graduation, but return starters Beth Mentzer, Kierstin Volkert, Emma Mentzer, and Addison Voge. Coach Bode will also look for help from some key newcomers in Claire Wandrey, Natalie Madsen, Zoey Aschinger, Callie Wendt, Mazee Henningson, and Valeria Najera. Bode discussed the key strengths of the team.
The Ridge View and OABCIG girls golf teams took part in a triangular with Cherokee at Holstein on Friday. Cherokee won the meet with a score of 204, while OABCIG fired a 213 and Ridge View scored a 216. The Raptors’ Beth Mentzer earned runner-up honors by firing a 46. Other Ridge View scores were Zoey Aschinger (55), Callie Wendt (56), Natalie Madsen (59), and Emma Mentzer (61). The Falcons were led by Rylee Krayenhagen with a 46. Other OABCIG scores were Bente de Vries (52), Hayden Zimmerman (53), Gwen Jacobson (62), Olivia Schroeder (71), and Karter Hemer (74).
The OABCIG and Ridge View boys golf squads took part in a triangular with Cherokee in Ida Grove on Friday. The Falcons won the meet with a score of 154, while the Raptors finished second by firing a 167. OABCIG’s Kale Ladwig won medalist honors with a score of 36, narrowly defeating runner-up Kellen Clausen of Ridge View with a 37. Other OABCIG scores were Kane Ladwig (38), Axton Miller (39), Griffin Diersen (41), Ben Hofmeister (46), and Cade Mason (50).
Ridge View’s scores were Drew Burk (42), Levi Albers (43), Gavin Vohs (45), Robert Forristal (45), and Jackson Struck (47).
The Raptor girls track and field squad hosted the Ridge View Relays in Holstein on Tuesday. The Ridge View ladies won the 12-team event with a team score of 135 points, compared to second place Sioux Central with 112 points.

The Raptor girls golf squad took part in the Western Valley Conference tournament in Ida Grove last Monday. Ridge View’s team score of 258 was good for sixth place in the eight-team field. The Raptors were led by Beth Mentzer with a 59, followed closely by Emma Mentzer with a 63. Zoey Aschinger fired a 66, while Natalie Madsen and Callie Wendt shot identical scores of 70. Kierstin Volkert was right behind them with a score of 71.
The Raptors boys golf squad hosted the Ridge View Quad tournament on Thursday at Holstein. Ridge View took second place with a team score of 167, bettered only by Kingsley-Pierson with a score of 164. The Raptors defeated Westwood (171) and MVAO-COU (196). Ridge View’s Kellen Clausen won medalist honors by firing a 35. Drew Burk turned in a score of 43, followed closely by Gavin Vohs with a 44. Right behind them was Levi Albers with a 45, while Jackson Struck fired a 48 and Cayden Clausen contributed a 51.
The Raptor boys golf squad captured runner-up honors at the Western Valley Conference in Holstein last Monday. Ridge View’s team score of 162 was second only to OABCIG with a 155. The Raptors were led by Kellen Clausen and Gavin Vohs, who both fired identical scores of 39. They were followed closely by Drew Burk with a 40 and Levi Albers with a 44. Cayden Clausen turned in a score of 49, while Jackson Struck contributed a 54.
The Ridge View girls track team participated in the Rod Smith Invitational at Woodbine on Tuesday. The Raptor gals won the event, scoring 155 points compared to second place Woodbine with 99 points.
