Matthew Grell, an Ida County Fair Board member, provided a slide presentation at the King Theatre displaying the tearing down of two swine barns and the building of the new swine barn.
Holstein Home for the Holidays event was held Dec. 2. The Cookie walk and Vendor Show started it going at 9 a.m. with a table full of cookies and a room full of vendors. People browsed and bought for their Christmas shopping. At the Stubbs Memorial Library, there was storytime.
Vivek Ramaswamy, presidential candidate came to visit the Farmacy in Ida Grove on Nov. 30. He delivered a speech of inspiration as he talked about what it means to be an American. Ramaswamy says,
On Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Galva Fire Station, there was much for all in the community including the big guy. The Galva Firefighters were serving pancakes for all who ventured in. There was cookie decorating for the kids, compliments of the Galva Library. Then, who was to show, but Santa Claus himself. First, Santa greeted all the kids in the room by walking from table to table.
From Saturday, Nov. 25 through Saturday, Dec. 2, you can shop in Holstein for specials, deals, and discounts. You may enter the drawing by making a purchase at a local business.
The EMS essential service was passed with 78 percent of the community’s vote. Only 60 percent was needed for the project to move forward. Corey Trucke was pleasantly surprised and shocked with the support from the community’s support.
The Galva-Holstein Board of Education conducted a special board meeting on Nov. 17. Board members in attendance were Beth Schossow, Jamie Whitmer, Matthew Wittrock, and Jeff Witzke (via phone call).
