Ridge View students return to class on Monday, Aug. 25. Administrators in the school district say they’re ready for students to return to classes, and for the most part, there are no major changes in student handbooks and curriculum.

The Farm-to-Table dinner put on by the Holstein Betterment Alliance (HBA) on Aug. 7 accomplished its goals, said HBA member Terri Schimmer.
“I think it went well,” she said. “We had just over 200 with ticket sales, and the auction went well. We had more auction items and so we had better income from the auction. Bob Butcher did an excellent job; he took the auction under his wing and thought of things that I wouldn’t think of, like bales of hay and seed corn and that kind of thing.”
School will be back in session soon.
A joint meeting of the Galva-Holstein and Schaller-Crestland school boards Aug. 11 heard details from Superintendent Adam Bisenius.
Professional development days were set to begin Wednesday, Aug. 20 with the first official day of school for the students Monday, Aug. 25.
A two-hour early dismissal will be in place for that first day.

Stubbs Memorial Library in Holstein will celebrate 75 years of service to the community on Friday, Aug. 15.
The event, which will be an ice cream social, will feature a display case of interesting items, and a PowerPoint presentation about the history of the library.
“The library originally began in 1948 as a free lending library,” said Library Director Emily Todd.
Local individuals and businesses will provide almost all of the food and drink items at the Farm-to-Table dinner in Holstein this Thursday, Aug. 7.
The Holstein Betterment Alliance (HBA) is the host of the event, which celebrates the community’s agricultural heritage.
“We try to use as many local vendors, retailers, and grocery store people in our area as we can to provide the meal,” said HBA member Terri Schimmer. “We want to highlight our local people.”
