The Ridge View girls wrestling squad earned the team championship at Saturday’s tournament in Holstein. The Raptors captured first place out of 18 teams with 163 points, edging the second-place score of 161.
The Raptor girls wrestling team hosted the Ridge View Duals last Tuesday in Holstein. Ridge View defeated Sergeant Bluff-Luton 54-30, doubled up Algona 60-30, and blasted Denison-Schleswig 72-9.
The Western Valley Conference has released its all-conference teams for the 2023 volleyball season. Ridge View had four players selected to the first team, including seniors Rowan Jensen, Shae Dutler, and Taya Phillips, and junior Sydney Blackmore.
Jaycie Vohs of Ridge View captured 36th place out of 140 runners, at the Class 2A girls state cross country meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday. Vohs set a personal record, clocking in at 20:24.3.
Western Valley Conference foes Ridge View and West Monona squared off in the Class 2A volleyball playoffs on Monday night in Holstein. The winner would meet Carroll Kuemper for the right to go to the state volleyball tournament.
The Ridge View volleyball squad, ranked ninth in the state in Class 2A, started their playoff run in style on Wednesday night in Holstein. The Raptors (32-8) met up with the Missouri Valley Lady Reds (13-19) in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs. Ridge View got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 6-1 lead in game one. After a quick timeout, Missouri Valley settled down and played better, but the Raptors still managed to build a 17-9 advantage, and finished strong for a 25-11 victory in game one.
Vohs qualifies for state cross country meet: Jaycie Vohs of Ridge View placed ninth out of 83 runners at the state qualifying meet in Orange City on Thursday. The top 15 individuals at each qualifying meet earn a trip to the state cross country meet. Vohs finished the course in a time of 21:24.88 to secure a spot at the Class 2A state meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday.
A fast start by Emmetsburg proved too much to overcome for the Ridge View football squad on Friday night, as the E-Hawks got past the Raptors 20-8 in the Class 1A playoff opening round. Ridge View entered the contest as the 4-seed from District 1, while Emmetsburg came in as champions of District 2. Emmetsburg jumped out to a 13-0 lead after one quarter, with the help of good field position. Ridge View held the E-Hawks in check the rest of the first half, but the Emmetsburg defense played well too, and the teams headed to the halftime break with the score remaining 13-0.
