Private citizens can earn compensation from the City of Holstein for clearing out dead or diseased trees.
During its Sept. 5 meeting, city council heard from Public Works Director Scott Niemeier about the idea of allowing residents to take on tree removal in the right of way for trees that are dead or diseased or that pose a danger.
This would allow for residents to avoid the wait for the city to get around to it and save the city the cost and time involved.
Council members liked the idea and voted to offer a bounty of $100 for residents who want to do so.
Daniel L. Dotzler, president and CEO of United Bank of Iowa, has announced the addition of Kiley Todd to the Board of Directors of United Bank of Iowa effective Aug. 18, 2023. Todd joined United Bank of Iowa in October, 2010, as Regional Branch Manager. In October, 2016, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Loan officer and will continue to serve in this role.
At the Holstein Farmers’ Market on Sept. 12, there will be a supper with a free will donation with all the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House (Upper Midwest). Jeff and Brenda Cronin (grandparents of baby Dottie) along with family and friends will be putting this on.
