Sioux Valley Family Health has announced Jenni Sohm, ARNP is joining the clinic.
She started nursing at WITCC and completed her LPN in 2007 and her RN in 2008. Sohm obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa and her Master’s and Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Morningside College.
She started as unit secretary and EMT at Horn Memorial Hospital since 2006 and became an instructor/associate professor for St. Luke’s College until 2021.
Ida County Public Safety and Communications Commission members were briefed on the impact of inflation raging nationwide and in Ida County as Ida County Sheriff Wade Harriman outlined a pay boost.
Supervisors for Ida County recently agreed to amend a previous wage boost of 3.25 percent up to 4.5 percent, said Harriman.
The move helps to soften inflation currently hitting, said Harriman.

A crash in Ida County that resulted in a child’s death has led to felony charges of homicide by vehicle leading to death and child endangerment involving death after an investigation concluded the man’s actions showed “willful and wanton disregard” for safety.
Over a year after a fatal crash on Highway 31 near Washta, extensive collision reconstruction and investigation has led the Iowa Highway Patrol to find that Ethan David Juelfs, 34, of Cushing, was negligent in the Nov. 15, 2020 crash, which saw his vehicle fail to negotiate a curve and head down an embankment.
Ida County Conservation has opted to increase the camping rate at the Crawford Creek Recreation Area and is considering the possibility of allowing campers to make formal reservations there.
Camping will cost more as electrical camping fees were increased from $18 per night up to $20 per night during the Feb. 7 meeting of the Ida County Conservation Board.
No change was made to primitive camping rates with discussion to come in March on that matter.

The Board approved the Notice of Public Hearing on Proposed Property Tax Levy for Fiscal Year 2023 on March 1 at 10:30 a.m. The Board approved a quote from Cady Business Technologies for Mitel updates in the amount of $800. The Board approved a Notice of Public Hearing for a Fiscal Year 2022 Budget amendment on March 1 at 11:00 a.m.

Present via phone conference was Chair Raymond Drey. Roger Bumann, Farm Bureau representative, was present to discuss proposed HF 2082, wind tower TIF legislation. He reported that so far the legislation has not advanced, but Farm Bureau will keep monitoring the situation. County Engineer Jeff Williams reviewed the Fiscal Year 2023 Secondary Road Budget.
