On June 1, 1963, Monsignor Ken Seifried, of Manson, Iowa, was ordained a Catholic priest. Seven were ordained that same day. His first assignment was Kuemper Catholic High School, where he taught for seven years. In 1970, he joined the Army as a chaplain, serving 28 years in 18 different assignments retiring as a Colonel. In 1997, he was selected to the honor of Monsignor (with no increase in benefits). Returning to the diocese in 1998, he served in two assignments, Granville and Milford, retiring to Holstein in 2009.
