The Ridge View girls basketball team handed OABCIG its first loss of the season Friday night, getting past the Falcons 48-38 in a conference showdown at Ida Grove.
The two squads engaged in a hotly contested first quarter, which ended with the Raptors holding a slight 8-7 advantage. Ridge View would get things rolling in the second quarter, scoring 16 points to OABCIG’s nine, and taking an eight-point lead of 24-16 into the halftime break.
The Ridge View boys basketball team was in Ida Grove on Friday night, taking on OABCIG in another conference rivalry matchup.
The Raptors raced out to an early 19-9 lead, only to see the Falcons fight back to within three at 19-16. Ridge View knocked down a three-pointer at the first quarter buzzer, to go ahead 22-16 after one quarter of play.
The Raptors put together a solid second quarter, outscoring OABCIG 13-6 for a 35-22 advantage at the halftime break.
The Ridge View girls wrestling squad headed south to Oakland, Iowa on Friday to compete in the Riverside Wrestling Invitational. The Raptors did more than just compete, as they brought home the team title and crowned two individual champions.
Ridge View earned 127 team points to win first place out of 18 squads.
Raptors’ 110-pounder Lauren Siegner pinned all three of her opponents, to capture the individual championship in that division.
The Ridge View wrestling squad hosted a Western Valley Conference meet with Kingsley-Pierson, West Monona-Whiting, and Woodbury Central on Thursday night in Holstein.

The Ridge View boys basketball team traveled to Remsen on Friday night to tangle with the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers. The contest was held in Remsen, as the Kingsley-Pierson school and gym floor was damaged by a water main break.
The Raptors got off to a hot start, taking a 14-5 lead after the first period. Ridge View extended the advantage to 11 points at 27-16 heading into the halftime break.
The Cherokee boys basketball squad made the trek south to Holstein last week, to take on Ridge View in a non-conference clash. The home team Raptors came into the contest with a record of 3-0, while the Braves were sitting at 2-0 on the young season.
Ridge View got off to a fast start, grabbing a quick 8-2 lead in the first quarter. Cherokee closed the gap to four, trailing 15-11 after one quarter of play.
The Ridge View girls basketball team hosted Cherokee last Monday night in Holstein. The visiting Braves came into the contest ranked third in Iowa’s Class 3A.
The Raptors came out determined to give Cherokee a battle, and after a hard-fought first quarter, trailed only by a single point at 14-13.
The crowd in Alta got their money’s worth on Thursday night, as Ridge View bested Alta-Aurelia 56-54. Trailing by a point with six seconds remaining, sophomore Jayna Aschinger drained a three-pointer to give the Raptors a two-point lead. The Ridge View defense then kept the Warriors from getting a shot off, as the Raptors celebrated a nail-biting victory.
The Ridge View boys basketball team made the trek to Alta on Thursday night to take on the Warriors of Alta-Aurelia.
The Raptors got off to a fast start, building a 20-8 lead after one quarter of play. Ridge View put together another strong showing in the second quarter, and headed to the halftime break with a commanding 40-15 advantage.
