HOLSTEIN - Lorna Vollmar, 94, of Holstein, passed away on April 8, 2024 at the Holstein Senior Living of Holstein. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with Pastor Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the funeral service starting at 9:30 a.m. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Lorna Isabella Vollmar was born Nov. 11, 1929 in rural Holstein, to Fred and Laura (Schmadeke) Meyer. She was baptized on Dec. 8, 1929 and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at her beloved St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Holstein High School in 1948.

Lorna was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Don, on Sept. 24, 1951. They were blessed with two children, Sheree and Randy.

Lorna was a member of the St. Paul sewing club, Ladies Aide, Bible school and Logos. She also volunteered for the Welcome Wagon. Lorna was a member of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bridge as well as gardening. She was an accomplished sewer and an excellent cook. Lorna was always available for people in need and was there with a helping hand.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheree (Steve) Vohs of Galva; son, Randy (Kathy) Vollmar of Holstein; grandchildren, Eric Vohs of Holstein, Nathan Vohs of Galva, Heather (Wade) White of Dallas, Texas, Darci (Brock) Boling of Holstein, Emily Vollmar (James Doxtad) of Sioux City, Melanie (Jared) Noelting of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Kristina Vollmar (Jeromey Bowmar) of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Jared, Emma, Gavin and Cameron Vohs, Caris, Bria and Luke White, Graham, Nash and Knox Boling, Stella and Amelia Doxtad and Harper and Evelyn Noelting. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Elaine Vollmar of Kansas City, Kansas, and her two daughters, Kris and Stacy Vollmar and nieces, Joy Schroeder of Spokane, Washington, and Donna Schroeder of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Fred and Laura Meyer; parents-in-law, Willard and Meta Vollmar; sisters, Inez Meyer and Irene Schroeder; brothers-in-law, Harold Schroeder and Dean Vollmar; nephews, Bob, Richard and Stewart Schroeder and niece, Sharron Schroeder.
