Dolores A. Meyer

1930-2023

Dolores A. Meyer, age 92, of Holstein, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 4:00 PM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Burial was at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation was prior to the service at 2:30 PM at the church. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein was in charge of the arrangements.

​Dolores Ann (Michaelsen) was born September 12, 1930 to Roy and Minnie (Sindt) Michaelsen. She was a graduate of Holstein High School in 1948 where she met the love of her life, Dale Meyer. They were married on October 30, 1950 and were blessed to celebrate 71 years of marriage. Dolores and Dale raised their four children on a farm near Holstein. She was a devoted homemaker and helped on the farm where she was needed. She also worked for Maxine Arney Catering.

​Dolores was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA. She was a member of the Holstein Legion Auxiliary and managed the Legion Medical Equipment. She played in the Holstein German Band and was a member of the Holstein Centennial Commission. Dolores helped with local blood drives and Thursday Morning Coffee. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren’s activities, cooking and baking and playing bridge with lifelong friends.

​She is survived by her children, Kurt (Cheryl) Meyer of Holstein, IA, Terri (Leo) Schimmer of Holstein, IA, Steve (Jackie) Meyer of Holstein, IA and Tim (Sandy) Meyer of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Kelli Meyer, Kyle (Dana) Meyer, Matt (Amanda) Nobles, Grant Nobles (special friend Becky Elming), Meagan (Chad) Foresman, Lauren Meyer, Marc (Rachel) Meyer, Beth Meyer (special friend Cole Ahlers), Morgan Meyer (fiancé Joey Miller), Jilian (Travis) McMillan; seven great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Dane, Gage, Luke, Carter, Adalyn and Olivia; six step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

​Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents, Roy and Minnie Michaelsen; great-granddaughter, Grace Foresman; brothers, Wayne (Lois) Michaelsen and Wendell (Joy) Michaelsen and sister-in-law, Lorraine (Kenneth) Moser.
