HOLSTEIN - Betty J. Kolb, 83, of Holstein, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Holstein. Pastor Betty Kiboko officiated. Burial was at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. at the church. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein was in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Jean Kolb was born Oct. 20, 1939, to Ted and Helen (Martin) Clark. She graduated from Cherokee High School. She was married to Denny Kolb on Aug. 3, 1958, at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. To this union, one son, Jeff was born. Betty worked as a nurse’s aide in her younger years before marrying Denny and moving onto the farm. Together, they lived and worked on the farm for 43 years, which was something that Betty really loved, before retiring and moving to town.

Betty was an avid card player. She belonged to the same 500 club since 1960 and was a member of a bridge club. She enjoyed boating, fishing, and sitting in the sun. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church of Holstein and often volunteered for church and various community events.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Cameron and wife Jamie Kolb and Chandler and husband Conner Aten; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Kolb; siblings, Jerry and wife Joyce Clark, Della and husband Royden Rupp, Merry Farlee and Butch and wife Karen Clark.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denny Kolb on July 12, 2006; son, Jeff Kolb on Sept. 29, 2016; and sisters, Marjorie Stewart, Joyce Clark and Janice Orlyn.
