Holstein council hot topics are aquatic center, taxi

Hot topics at the July 1 Holstein City Council meeting were the proposed aquatic center and a request for the taxi to travel more than one-mile outside of city limits.

Thad Cosgrove, pool committee chair, told the council it’s the committee’s recommendation to go with the preliminary design, submitted by JEO, an engineering firm, and to place the pool north of Lohff-Schumann Memorial Community Center in Holstein. He told the council that city administrator Theresa Pudenz did a great job contacting other pools with a similar design and “all supported our design.”

Cosgrove said the committee indicated it wants to take the soccer fields out of the preliminary design for “two reasons: one—the money can’t be used for them and two—we don’t need them. We have asked the engineers to add more area in the deep end for additional swimming and handicap parking on the south.”
