G-H, RV schools meet ESSA goals

The Iowa Department of Education released new online reports Dec. 18 showing how public schools performed in a new accountability system that meets the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), a federal education law that replaced the No Child Left Behind Act.

G-H Lower Elementary, G-H Upper Elementary, Ridge View Middle School and Ridge View High School are all in the “met” category for comprehensive and targeted areas.

The comprehensive and targeted score means:

•Comprehensive schools are identified for overall performance. These schools score in the lowest 5 percent of Title I schools on the index score for all students and/or their graduation rate is below 67.1 percent.

•Targeted schools are identified due to subgroup performance. These schools have subgroup(s) performing lower than the lowest 5 percent of Title I schools (all students) on the index score.

•Schools that are identified comprehensive will not also be identified as targeted.
